It’s been one of the most eagerly awaited series on telly, but after ten long months Game of Thrones is finally back!

And for those that managed to avoid the spoilers that flooded the web, not to mention the first episode leaking early , it had all the shocks and twists they have come to expect.

The HBO show has finally overtaken the books,
replica oakleys, so all those annoying people who knew what was going to happen in previous seasons are just as much in the dark as anyone else.

And, as we all know, the night is dark and full of terrors.

Needless to say, there’s SPOILERS ahead from here on out. If you don’t want to know what happens,

Things don’t look good for Jon There’s no way of getting round this the lad is still dead,
fake ray ban sunglasses.

The season picks up right after the last one ended, with fan favourite Jon on his back in the snow after his Nights Watch brothers stuck him with daggers.

That’s where Ser Davos finds him definitely dead and carries him into Castle Black with the last few loyalists.

One of the big talking points since the end of the last series is if Jon is going to get resurrected somehow.

But for those of us hoping he would shrug it off as "just a flesh wound", I’m afraid there’s no good news here yet.

One of the loyalists goes off to ask the wildlings for help, and Ser Alliser and his rebel band have Davos and co barricaded in with Jon’s body, so at least it looks like there’s a fight coming up.

Melisandre is also there,

With Stannis apparently dead,
discount ray bans, and now Jon too, it seems like her fire god has abandoned her.

More on her later though.

You almost feel sorry for Ramsay Bolton. At the end of last season Theon threw Ramsay’s torturer pal Miranda off the battlements of Winterfell as he and Sansa made their daring escape.

Now we see Ramsay looking genuinely hurt at her death,

Then he tells the maester to feed her body to the hounds, and you realise he’s still an evil bd.

Our favourite evil Queen Mum, Cersei, was hitting the wine before Jamie even gets back from Dorne.

When he finally arrives with the body of their daughter, she understandably takes it pretty badly.

She starts raving about the prophesy she was given as a child (remember? From last season?) which says all her children will die.

Maybe this is the season she starts growing a conscience? Nah, can’t see that either.

While Cersei is getting beaten down emotionally, over the Narrow Sea Arya is getting beaten down physically.

Now blind after the events of last season,

Apparently they’re planning on coming back the next day, so either Arya needs to get her vision back pronto or she isn’t going to have much fun this year.

Finally Daenerys has been taken captive by the Dothraki hoard.

After some pretty graphic discussions by the riders about what they want to do to her, she finally gets a meeting with Khal Moro.

Things start looking up when he realises she’s the widow of Drogo, and she almost thinks she might get to go home to Meereen.
